RSPCA Cymru has launched an appeal for information to find the owner of a mare and her week-old foal after they were removed from Gelligaer and Merthyr Common due to concerns for their welfare.

Equine welfare charities including the RSPCA, Redwings and World Horse Welfare, have shared an update on ponies that have been removed from the common in an ongoing project to improve welfare in the herd.

It is thought that some horses respond to stressful environments through behavioural depression, like clinical depression in humans, with symptoms such as withdrawn behaviour, a fixed stare and lack of movement.

The main display ring will host a packed timetable of competitions and demonstrations, including the majestic Gentle Giants & Friends Shire Horse display team, showjumping, scurry driving and show and working hunter competitive classes.

Emily, 29, is the daughter of legend of the sport, Mary King. She is based near Holywell in Flintshire.

Spectators will witness gravity-defying feats as these master horsemen flip beneath galloping horses, form six-person human pyramids on horseback, and execute somersaults mid-charge—all while riding side-by-side at full gallop.

“We look forward to welcoming competitors back to the showground this summer. With entries closing on 28th May, we encourage all potential exhibitors to review the schedules and submit their entries in good time."
